Again I stand within this room,
silence the only sound;
then something in the stillness
makes me turn around.
For an instant you are here again,
a smile lights up your face;
for a heartbeat's worth of moments
the room is touched by grace.
I reach for you, the moment lost,
but a whisper in the gloom
lets me know you'll always be
here within this room.
I finger-write your name in dust
on a table at a window
then rub away the memory
as tears begin to flow.
I close the door and turn the key
then finger kiss the doorpost.
Its a last good bye to
yesterday
when always was mine ... almost.
