One At A Time
It takes one bulb or plant to start a garden,
And one word to start a poem ...
It takes a friend to be a friend ...
And a foundation starts with one stone.
It takes one smile to spread like butter.
One stitch upon another for a sweater ...
It takes one thought to begin a prayer
To make the world a little better.
It takes one hand to reach out.
One kind deed to multiply into others...
It takes only one step to span the miles
Between my sisters and my brothers.
And it takes only one day at a time
To make caring fit like a glove.
It takes only one open heart to ask God
For His help in planting a world full of love.
