if only in your mind,
Persist like the feisty wren,
her nesting place to find.
Sing like the cardinal
to cheer those who may be blue,
And listen to the mockingbird
whose song is always new.
Keep pounding like the woodpecker;
complete the quest.
Glimmer like the goldfinch
to make you feel your best.
Strut like the peacock
even though that next step is hard.
Go ahead and crow ...
it is, after all, your yard!
Like the hummingbird seek
the bright flowers and the honey,
And savor all that nature teaches
to keep your outlook sunny.
No, it isn't easy
and sometimes you'll cry out loud ...
But keep lookin' for the angels
winging to the clouds.
